Biography for MaryAnn Ball, author of Preparing the Millennial Child, Your Personal Parenting Class and Relationship Guide
MaryAnn Ball has been in the parenting business for more than thirty-five years. She and her husband Gaylon are the parents of eight children, seven of whom are married, and currently are the grandparents of eighteen grandchildren. Child development and family relationship concerns are Mrs. Ball’s life work.
Hands-on Parenting Experience and Certification
In addition to being parents, MaryAnn and Gaylon Ball have been parent education instructors since 1987 when they were first certified to teach the parenting course “Redirecting Children’s Misbehavior,” which was inspired by the works of Rudolf Dreikurs, MD. Eventually, the Balls developed their own curriculum, taught their own course, and wrote a companion reference book: Parenting with Courage.
The Gentle Art of Parenting
As a parenting educator and mentor, Mrs. Ball has appeared in myriad venues from pre-schools to churches, and hosted a weekly talk-radio program called “The Gentle Art of Parenting.” Mrs. Ball has been a featured speaker at parenting conferences and has conducted workshops as well as organized parenting conferences.

Blessed with an uncanny intuition and understanding of the mind and motives for behavior, Mrs. Ball is often sought out by parents for answers to particular parenting challenges. Many of the concepts developed in her book Preparing the Millennial Child were originally introduced during her parenting classes in response to specific questions posed by parents.
Mrs. Ball lives in Boise, Idaho with her husband and family.
